Coldwater Economics tracks 350-400 major data releases every month from the world's central economies, identifying those which arrive more than a standard deviation away from what was expected by consensus, or from measured trends.
The Shocks List presents the five most consequential datapoints which arrived more than a standard deviation below what was expected. Each such Shock is assessed according to the size of the shock, the importance of the economy implicated, the centrality of the data to the growth cycle, the timeliness of the data and the credibility of the source of the data.
The Shocks List is compiled every week, and is the complement to the Coldwater Surprises List. The current list is for the two weeks to 2nd December.
